The potteries of southwestern Pennsylvania in the late 1800's produced a rugged style of durable pottery made from the clays lining the Monongahela River. Decorated in Cobalt blue and varying greatly in clay color, these genuine pieces of American folk art are highly collectible for their reflection of a gentler, more personal time. The variations in color, pattern, and texture are inherent to the nature of the piece and faithful to the pottery produced here over a century ago. This "antique" style is not for everyone. If variations and quirks in color and texture disturb you, please order the more refined white clay.
