How Our Pottery Is Made
Making stoneware pottery is a long process, consisting of many steps. Shown below are just a few of these.

Liquid clay, called slip, is poured into a plaster mold.
After about an hour, the slip has begun to harden and the still liquid center is poured out and recycled.

Once the top half of the mold is removed, the newly produced shell is left in the mold until firm enough to be removed.

The pot is then placed on a potters wheel and spun while the top and sides are smoothed with a wet sponge.

A run of A-crocks awaiting finishing.

Our 2008 Limited Edition Snowman still in the mold.

After a few weeks of drying, the pots are placed in these kilns to be bisque fired to over 1800 degrees F.
Once removed from the kiln, the bisqueware is hand decorated with minerals by the owner, Linn, or daughter Molly.
A run of our Limited Edition Snowmen all dressed up and ready to go!
Bisqueware, hand decorated with cobalt awaits glazing and final firing.
Decorated bisqueware is completely submerged in our lead-free glaze.
Decorated ware is carefully reloaded into the kiln.
After firing 8 hours or more to temperatures exceeding 2100 degrees the finished pots are allowed to cool and removed from the kiln.
Drying shelves filled with greenware awaiting its turn in the kiln.
Our production area, where all the magic happens.
If you have an interest in touring our pottery in person, we would be happy to show you around, time and schedule permitting. Call 724-737-1370 for details.
